Here are some special projects for our Museum Wish List in no particular order:

VACUUMS

Our current vacuums are heavy, dated and in many stages of disrepair. To help our volunteers to be more efficient we are hoping to purchase lightweight vacuums for our outlying buildings such as St. Mary’s Church, Brandon Giovanelli Studio & Gallery, Carrie Jacobs-Bond Home and Toti’s Tavern. We’ll keep one at each end of the main buildings which house Archives, Heritage Hall, the Engine House, the Cultural Center, offices, entrances, kitchen, bathrooms, gift shop and the Lee LeBlanc Gallery -yes, we do a lot of vacuuming here! We have received one vacuum and purchased two. We could still use three more. They are about $100 each.

Snow Blower

We need a new snow blower. The one we have is dying. Slowly. Painfully. It is sad to watch. Our maintenance team keeps giving it CPR but it has far outlived its life expectancy. A decent snow blower can range from $500 – $800.

Historic Building Fund

During our annual inspection this year we found major damage in two of our historic buildings: the Lindahl Shingle Mill and the Brandon Giovanelli Studio & Gallery. Together the damage is approximately $25,000 to fix or we would loose these irreplaceable treasures. We have moved ahead with the work and as you can imagine this is a big hit to our budget. If you could consider donating to our Historic Buildings Fund, it would help us refill this fund. Weather and age are always taking their toll on our historic buildings.

Mining Memorial

The Mining Memorial was heavily damaged due to a weather related roof collapse and has been closed for a couple years. The exterior damage has been repaired and now we need to put these exhibits back in place. Your donations will allow us to continue to tell the story and honor the memory of the men who lost their lives to mining disasters in Iron County. Interior repairs include new sheetrock and painting. Displays that were damaged need to be fixed or recreated, a lot of cleanup needs to happen as well as new signs for us to bring this part of the museum back for you to visit.

Heritage Hall & Timeline

We are revamping Heritage Hall to better tell our Iron County history -your donation would help us create these exhibits, telling the story of the people and events that make Iron County what it is today. Any amount you could contribute will be appreciated.

Tables for Events

In order to handle more events in the Cultural Center, from serving our community, hosting cultural events for our guests, fund raisers or renting our space out for weddings, etc., we need more tables. We have ten and would like ten to fifteen more. Decent quality new tables that are sturdy enough to be safe yet light enough for our staff to move around run between $85 – $95 a piece.
